SECONDARY school sponsorships open up pathways for students to excel. From those who complete their secondary education and are outstanding, Hope4Malawi sponsors eight students through university.
There are also employment opportunities for others to work as librarians or teaching assistants in partner schools.
In 2023, three of Hope4Malawi’s secondary school students – Matthews, Emmanuel and Yohanne – were selected for university, representing a first for all their families. They have all started their first semesters.
What a result when only three per cent of secondary leavers in Malawi gain places at public universities.
In addition, Hope4Malawi is supporting Elizabeth, a local girl whose family circumstances have changed, and they can no longer afford the costs of a university education.
Elizabeth has also started university and it is a privilege to help her.
“Our lives have changed since you came,” says Yohanne. “We are grateful and appreciate all you do for us. We would not be going to school without your assistance.”
Hope4Malawi is delighted to have sponsors who kindly support these students and help to improve their career opportunities by funding university fees, accommodation and food.
During the school holidays, the sponsored students also commit to working at Hope4Malawi’s partner primary schools and Hope Secondary School. They are inspiring role models for the children and students, who can see for themselves what hard work can achieve.
Can you help a child in Malawi?
Thanks to the kind support of our partners, sponsors, fundraisers and volunteers, Hope4Malawi's school building, resourcing projects and student sponsorships continue to provide life-changing opportunities for children growing up in rural Malawi.
