The lack of toilets in Malawian schools results in children, particularly girls, missing school. Older girls typically miss a week of school each month during their menstruation because of the lack of toilet facilities and changing areas.
We are twinning toilets at Mafunde primary school with Suntrap in Epping Forrest who are building toilets at their centre as part of their refurbishment programme.
Work has started at Mafunde with the local community digging the pit. A local building team has been employed by the school.
