Changing lives by donating shoes

At Hope4Malawi, we believe every child deserves the chance to walk to school with comfort, confidence, and dignity. Recently, thanks to the incredible generosity of two of our partners, this dream has become a reality for hundreds of children in rural Malawi.
St Christopher’s The Hall School in Beckenham donated more than 130 pairs of school shoes.
John Warr, along with his neighbours and members of Epsom Lawn Tennis Club, collected and donated over 120 pairs of trainers.
Most of these shoes were delivered to Chipwepwete Primary School, where they were carefully distributed to the children most in need.
For many of these young students, receiving new shoes was more than just a gift; it was a moment of genuine joy and renewed confidence. Some children had been walking long distances in worn-out shoes, while others had shoes that were far too small or had none at all.
Watching their faces light up as they tried on their shoes was a powerful reminder of how small acts of kindness can change lives—how even a single second-hand pair of shoes can show a child that they are valued.
The larger shoes were donated to students at Hope Secondary School and interns at Hope Skills Centre.
We are deeply thankful to everyone who donated shoes and organised collections—the pupils, parents, and staff of St Christopher’s The Hall School, as well as John Warr with his neighbours and members of Epsom Lawn Tennis Club, whose efforts and compassion have truly touched lives across the world.
Children in Chipwepwete can now walk to school safely and comfortably, ready to learn and dream bigger for their future.

Together, we can help more children move forward toward a brighter future.

The pre-loved shoes will make a huge difference. Sellina (left), a student at Hope Secondary School, had been walking the long journey to school in old, flat shoes and was very grateful to receive the trainers.
